Several teams are looking at White Sox SP Jose Quintana

As many as eight teams could be potential landing spots for the Chicago starter.

The Chicago White Sox are in full rebuilding mode, selling off most of their top players in exchange for prospects.

Though many saw SP Chris Sale as the prize of the offseason, his former rotation mate, Jose Quintana, could be just as important to the right contender.

Quintana has been a workhorse the last few seasons, ending the 2016 season with a 13-12 record and 3.20 ERA in 208 innings. His durability and talent will make him a valuable piece to any top rotation.

Among the teams that could find themselves in the mix for Quintana this offseason, according to, are:

  • Chicago Cubs
  • New York Yankees
  • Pittsburgh Pirates
  • Houston Astros
  • Texas Rangers
  • St. Louis Cardinals
  • Los Angeles Dodgers
  • Colorado Rockies

At the end of the day, if the Cubs seriously want Quintana, they’ll get him. Chicago has the top position-player prospects necessary to get a deal done and have a young starting lineup blocking those top prospects from cracking the big-league roster.

However, if the Cubs look elsewhere for a starter, the AL West arms race between the Astros and Rangers will likely drive up the price for Quintana, netting the White Sox even more elite prospects this offseason.
